My Tiny Friend In The Garden
I have a little friend in the garden. He will usually come out and visit me if the cat isn’t around. He is extremely well fed so I suspect someone has trained him to feed from them. He gets chased by other much bigger and more aggressive birds, but it hardly seems to bother him. I think his manoeuvrability is so good that in spite of their speed they can’t catch him.
He will feed from my hand and lands on my shoulder when he’s in the mood. I really enjoy his company in the garden. I don’t for the life of me understand cruelty to animals. I find them completely charming. I have seen videos of tame lions, snakes, even crocodiles. It makes you wonder if we were kinder, would animals would be less dangerous?
Of course, there is a natural balance in nature and that needs to be observed. Death is a part of that natural balance and that occurs in nature. What I don’t want to do is interfere with natures’ natural balance. I will feed my little friend, but only a little bit, and only worms he would get in his normal foraging. I have no doubt eating human food, refined carbohydrates, would make me very popular with him, but would probably make him very sick. Even being friendly to him is a risk because it may make him trust the wrong human.
The laws of nature are very finely balanced. Humans are unique in nature with the way we trash natures’ laws. That’s why I Iove Chiropractic. The principle is always to remove interference from nature, rather than to interfere. It applies to all life.
He was good enough to pose for a photo for me under the snow peas.
