Chiropractic can be effective for the relief of pain. Chiropractors are conservative spine care experts.
We use the EAT protocol : Excersise, Adjust & Traction
EAT is the most researched technique for correcting spinal problems.
Let’s look at lifestyle. Get you to your best & keep you there
Once you are at your optimal state of health, let’s keep you that way. By managing the stress of life as it occurs you can stay well & age well. let us help you to become an active healthy 95 year old.
Every body is different. We will take our time to understand your specific health goals and we will apply scientifically established protocols for your care with a ‘Nature First’ approach. If we can help you we will tell you. If we can’t we will tell you that too
Our family has been caring for our local community for over 50 years. We have patients that come from all over South Australia but we take great pride in working families from our community in and around Brighton, Glenelg, Marion, Hallett Cove, Plympton and as far south as Rynella, Woodcroft, Happy Valley, Morphett Vale, Flagstaff Hill and Aberfoyle Park.
I began my health care career alongside my father, Dr. Peter Lawrence, who’s passion, dedication and success is still, to this day, my primary inspiration and driving force. I joined Dad in his practice in 1978 until he left for Perth and then went out on my own for the very first time in a small office in Parkholme. Thanks to the lessons of my incredible father I quickly saw the practice grow, helping thousands of people regain their health and improve their level of wellbeing.
In 2000, due to increasing demand for quality natural health care and our rapidly expanding community, we opened our state-of-the-art, flagship office in Marion. Today our chiropractic family has expanded to include young and old, rich and famous, young families and everyone in between; working with them to eliminate pain and regain their health.
At ChiroPlus our success is founded in our philosophy. Our patients come first. We stay up to date with current research while holding respect and reverence for traditional wisdom. We take a natural, holistic approach to health and, in addition to Chiropractic care, can offer muscle testing and rehab exercise, posture correction exercise, and recommendation on herbs, vitamins and foods specific to your body’s health needs.
Whether you are looking for back or neck pain relief, headache treatment or a wellbeing overhaul, we can help.
I am so fortunate to be a Chiropractor. I get to work with the nicest people and get to witness the genius of the body at work. I get the privilege of helping people to have rapid dramatic improvement in symptoms, including long standing conditions, through Chiropractic care.
The amazing thing about what we do is that we don’t just treat symptoms. Our aim is to correct your spine and enable the miracle of the human body. When we do that you can heal and regenerate effectively thanks to the natural wisdom of your nervous system. We often find that our patients report a greater sense of general wellbeing too.
Ultimately, our aim is to help you gain more vitality, more enjoyment out of life and better resistance to ill health. If your approach to your health is to take responsibility, educate yourself and put in effort to reap the rewards, then you belong with us.
So what’s next?
The first thing we will need to do with you is have a chat to discover if you have problems we can help with and to figure out how these problems may have developed in the first place. If we think we can help you, we will do a structural exam.
We offer you the opportunity to get back into health with our full consultation and physical examination for no charge. If X-rays are required we will refer you for them. Medicare covers some X-rays, but there may be a gap, so there is no reason not to at least be checked out. Call Now : (08) 8358 5858.
In 2002, Koch et al. described the circumstances consistent with the deliverance of a chiropractic spinal adjustment as “an asymmetry in the horizontal and sagittal planes of body posture and motion.” Such asymmetries in posture and motion adversely affect the nervous system through several mechanisms, as follows:
1. Abnormal afferent input into the central nervous system.
2. Tethering (adverse prolonged stretching) of the central nervous system. This results in spinal cord ischemia and consequent motor, sensory, and autonomic neurological dysfunction. Tethering of the spinal cord has been linked to demyelinating diseases.
3. Electrical dysfunction of nerve transmission through stress generated potentials from bone (streaming potentials and piezoelectricity). Electrical nerve interference has been linked to altered expression of one’s DNA.
4. Associated accelerated degenerative spinal joint pathology will eventually adversely affect the nervous system mechanically.
All of these influences on the nervous system in items #1-#4 involve the sympathetic arm of the autonomic nervous system. It is established that the sympathetic nervous system is the primary controlling factor in immunity. Koch LE, Koch H, Graumann-Brunt S, Stolle D, Ramirez JM, Saternus KS; Heart rate changes in response to mild mechanical irritation of the high cervical spinal cord region in infants; Forensic Science International; Volume 128, Issue 3, August 28, 2002, pp. 168-176.
Before one can identify “out of place” one must first know “in place”! C.B.P.’s definition starts with in place;
1 Normal upright human posture; vertical alignment of head, thorax, pelvis.
2. Normal sagittal plane curves; A) Cervical spine is circular, B) Thoracic kyphosis is elliptical with increased curve T1-4 and decreased lower, C) Lumbar curve is elliptical with increased distal, L4-S1 lumbar curve.

Traditionally Chiropractic was not limited to back and neck pain. The purpose was to create the right conditions for the body to heal effectively and function at its best.
The experience of chiropractors and many studies also show that chiropractic management may help a raft of other conditions.
Many of these other conditions have been documented in published case studies, case series, observed by practitioners and reported by patients.
Please be sure to discuss any health issues with us regardless of how unrelated they may seem to your care. It will give us the opportunity to monitor the progress of your overall levels of health and wellbeing

Wellness care means taking care of your body when you are healthy to not only stay healthy but to constantly increase your level of health. Some people don’t want to put that effort in. It’s easier to blame genetics and old age. If you think you are worth the effort we agree with you and we will move heaven and earth to help you achieve just that.
A healthy, balanced foundation paves the way for a healthy body. A lot of people think the measure of health is the absence of pain. This is not confirmed by research; in fact research contradicts this position.
Another important aspect of wellness is nutrition. We encourage people to eat foods that are specifically indicated for their body type. We can also recommend specific herbs, minerals and vitamins. Hippocrates, the so-called Father of Medicine said “let your food be your medicine and your medicine your food”. We follow that rule and aim to build health naturally.
There are many types of exercise available to people. The exercise we recommend is a specific exercise to help correct the spine called C.B.P. Mirror image exercise (see our C.B.P. page). In addition to the exercise we recommend you work on your strength, aerobic capacity and flexibility. We can refer you to a number of great gyms and yoga centres for this type of exercise.
Clinical Biomechanics of Posture, also known as Chiropractic Bio-Physics techniques (C.B.P.) can best be characterised as a full spine and pelvis corrective/rehabilitative procedure having a firm foundation in the science of biomechanics and physics. Not only is CBP a primary technique, it is a leader in the chiropractic research arena dedicated to the development, refinement, and study of structural rehabilitative procedures for the human spine.
The E.A.T. corrective care protocol is unique to CBP. These are Exercise, Adjustments, and Traction with mirror image positioning. In combination, these “E.A.T.” methods are unique to CBP Technique.
Figure 1. Mirror Image exercise example for the abnormal forward head posture. The patient has an abnormal forward head (translation) posture and the skeletal animation shows what happens to the spine with this posture. On the right is two different CBP® Mirror Image exercises one with just the patients’ muscles and body as resistance and the other with an elastic band for increased contraction effort. The patient actively maneuvers their posture into the opposite or Mirror Image position..
Figure 2. Mirror Image exercise example for an abnormal lateral shifted (translated) ribcage posture. The patient has right lateral ribcage posture (translation) and the skeletal animation shows what happens to the spine with this posture. On the right is two different CBP® Mirror Image exercises one with just the patients’ muscles and body as resistance and the other with an elastic band for increased contraction effort. The patient actively maneuvers their posture into the opposite or Mirror Image position.
In 1980-1986, Dr. Don and Dr. Glenn Harrison began developing and testing Mirror Image® posture exercises.1-3 Mirror image® exercises are performed to stretch shortened muscles and to strengthen those muscles that have weakened in areas where postural muscles have adapted to asymmetric abnormal postures. Although strength and conditioning exercise has not proven to correct posture,46 postural exercises performed in the mirror image have shown initial promise in the reduction of posture and spinal displacements. Figures 1 and 2 demonstrate Corrective Mirror Image exercises for the same postures.
We offer a wide variety of adjustment styles to suit different people from infants to the elderly and we use all of the major Chiropractic adjusting techniques. Our adjustments are gentle, well considered and precise.
Biomechanical studies have established that long-term biomechanical adaptation requires a constant force over a period of time. Traction delivers a constant force over a period of time. An important and unique aspect of the CBP technique is the utilization of traction. In line with this thinking, long-term corrections of abnormal spinal postural distortions would require a force applied over a period of time, and this can be achieved with traction. Clinical investigations of this premise have proven it to be correct. However, CBP Traction is not the flexion-axial traction encountered in the Medical/Physiotherapy literature; CBP Traction is to correct posture and to restore the sagittal spinal curvatures. Wherever possible we use ‘in home’ traction devices called Denerrols. Occasionally ‘in office’ traction is necessary and we will discuss these options if necessary in your case.
