The Importance of Variety

paleo food picThe Importance of Variety.

Food manufacturers over the last nearly 100 years have progressively added more and more refined sugar and salt to our food to the point that many people are no longer able to enjoy natural food. If you restrict your food variety you are also restricting the nutrients your body can access.
Different foods contain different nutrients and particularly trace minerals. One of the most amazing nutrients is Selenium. It is deficient in Australian soil, but if you eat South American Brazil nuts they are a magnificent source. Raw Broccoli is a fantastic source of Co-enzyme Q10 which is renowned for its ability to generate cellular energy. It powers the batteries of your cells, the mitochondria. Natto is another sensational food that is a great source of vitamin K2 and helps repopulate the intestinal flora and transport calcium.

My First Political Party!

unnamed
I have never paid a lot of attention to political parties. Fundamentally because I think the choice of two parties is limiting and they both seem to serve multinationals rather than the people. I just joined one for the first time in my life. Its called the Health Australia Party. Here it is if you are interested.

G.P.’s take scalpel to treatment

Great news. The U.K. is introducing a tax on sugar to reduce sugar consumption. Hopefully we will be next. The National prescription service has finally recommended G.P’s no longer prescribe the use of antibiotics for ear infections, no longer recommend the use of paracetamol for fever and no longer recommend anti inflammatory drugs for long term use in the elderly. Once again it pays to go natural. There was research in the 1980’s for all three interventions to be discontinued and a big study around a decade ago demonstrating antibiotics don’t work for ear infection. Natural methods are best

My Tiny Friend In The Garden

I have a little friend in the garden. He will usually come out and visit me if the cat isn’t around. He is extremely well fed so I suspect someone has trained him to feed from them. He gets chased by other much bigger and more aggressive birds, but it hardly seems to bother him. I think his manoeuvrability is so good that in spite of their speed they can’t catch him.
He will feed from my hand and lands on my shoulder when he’s in the mood. I really enjoy his company in the garden. I don’t for the life of me understand cruelty to animals. I find them completely charming. I have seen videos of tame lions, snakes, even crocodiles. It makes you wonder if we were kinder, would animals would be less dangerous?
Of course, there is a natural balance in nature and that needs to be observed. Death is a part of that natural balance and that occurs in nature. What I don’t want to do is interfere with natures’ natural balance. I will feed my little friend, but only a little bit, and only worms he would get in his normal foraging. I have no doubt eating human food, refined carbohydrates, would make me very popular with him, but would probably make him very sick. Even being friendly to him is a risk because it may make him trust the wrong human.
The laws of nature are very finely balanced. Humans are unique in nature with the way we trash natures’ laws. That’s why I Iove Chiropractic. The principle is always to remove interference from nature, rather than to interfere. It applies to all life.
He was good enough to pose for a photo for me under the snow peas.

Paw Paw Ointment

Here’s some great news. If, like me, you are a fan of paw paw ointment you may have been disappointed to learn that the traditional one is now being made with petrochemicals.
There is another one on the market called Natralus. It claims to have double the amount of paw paw, certified organic and free of petrochemicals. Don’t give up on paw paw ointment just yet.
So many natural products have become unavailable in my time in practice so it’s great to have the opportunity to support a company doing things in a way that doesn’t alter ecology or biology.
Check in your local health food store for availability or Foodland, Drakes and I.G.A. You can also visit www.natralus.com.au
